Affirmation – in Yoga Sankalpa, a wish or desire, is our own form of self-education that shapes us into our better selves. Sankalpa should come from our heart and not from our selfish desire. It should have pure and noble ‘intentions’. The wish should ideally concern ourselves, our deeds, our fellow beings, or even the whole world. And how to make the right wish?
Take a moment, stop, sit down, close your eyes and put your hand on your heart (at least imaginatively). Focus on your heart and realise what you would most like to wish for at this moment. What is it? Whatever it is, usually the true, real and genuine wish will come to mind first. Look at it and come to formulate it slowly and clearly.
The formulation of Sankalpa is very important. The wish must be formulated in the present tense and in a positive form. For example, you can say to yourself, “I am healthy/healthy”, “I am happy/happy”, or you don’t have to “stick” to the ground and wish “I am healthier” or “I am happier”.
Once you have formulated your wish and you are sure it is the right one, repeat it three times in your mind. Then send it out into the universe, let it go, and let it all go. “Letting go” of the wishes, thoughts, memories, pains, persons in our lives is the hardest thing for us to do. However, if we want to let things go and move on, it is inevitable to learn to let go and just let them be.
And trust. Trust the process.
If you ever try it, you will see many miracles.
